Over a Thousand WoW Classic Players Will Start Playing From Scratch

Thousands of World of Warcraft Classic players have decided to start playing again on a less populated server as part of the so-called The Fresh Crusade initiative. The project is tied to the planned release of The Burning Crusade expansion pack, and its goal is to create a more balanced game environment.

A large group of World of Warcraft Classicplayers (over a thousand people) decided to start playing from scratch. This is a fairly large-scale community action called The Fresh Crusade, which will begin on March 5. Its purpose is to "reset" the game on a less populated server in anticipation of The Burning Crusade expansion (via Eurogamer).

The players decided to take such steps because in recent months the WoW Classic servers have been experiencing problems with bots and a poorly functioning economy, which combined result in a great difficulty in playing (the issues are related - bots collect gold sold for real money, which spoils the game's economy).

The originator of the initiative is a player known as Caszhar. In a statement for Eurogamer he expresses his hope that by working together players will create a more balanced gaming environment. Much will depend on whether enough people get involved and choose a balanced mix of Alliance and Horde.

"With all of us starting together, the economy will be more of an even playing ground compared to the higher/mid-size population servers. (...) "People are really excited to start on the Friday, so there's definitely a hype train here," stated Caszhar.
