Update

Blizzard has revealed that the Seeds of Renewal update for WoW: Dragonflight will leave the PTR on January 16, this year. It will offer among other things, new story quests that will conclude the main storyline, the ability to travel on dragons outside the Dragon Islands, and events that will shed additional light on recent events in the game world.

Original news (December 20, 2023)

Announced at this year's BlizzCon, The War Within, Midnight and The Last Titan expansions for the MMORPGs World of Warcraft and WoW: Cataclysm Classic are still a melody of the more or less distant future. However, this does not mean that until their release - WoW: CC is scheduled to come out in the first half of 2024, and WoW: The War Within at the turn of summer and autumn - nothing will happen in these games.

On the contrary. Today Blizzard has published roadmaps for these projects for the coming months. What can we expect?

Three updates for WoW: Dragonflight

Ahead of The War Within's release World of Warcraft will receive three more updates (The first, Seeds of Renewal, is scheduled to debut in January). They will culminate the story from Dragonflight - which also includes the fourth season - and will lay the groundwork for the Worldsoul Saga, which will consist of the aforementioned DLCs.

Alpha and beta tests also await us in The War Within. So far we don't know when exactly they will take place, but Blizzard is to ask their participants for feedback "in spring/summer" - so in a way we already have the first clue.

You will get acquainted with the details in the infographic below.

Hero trees in WoW: The War Within

Staying on WoW: The War Within, it is worth mentioning that we learned some details regarding hero talents, which are a new form of character progression for all classes and specializations.

  1. These are separate development trees that will be unlocked at level 71.
  2. Each class will receive three such trees - with the exception of druid (four) and demon hunter (two) - whereby within a given specialization we will only have access to two of them.
  3. One tree consists of 11 nodes. We will unlock all of them at level 80.

Blizzard discussed the heroes' talents with specific examples. You can read the details on this page.

Beta-testing of WoW: Cataclysm Classic

As for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, the most important news seems to be that the start of signups for beta tests. Those who want to give themselves a chance to take part in it can apply for it here.

What's more, as part of the WoW Classic update scheduled for February 2024. a "Self Found" feature will be introduced to the game. This is supposed to be a new way to challenge other players. In addition, there will be new phases in Season of Discovery next year.
