Windows 10 Will Force Update 20H2
Update 20H2 for Windows 10 will be forced for devices with expired support. All compatible devices, older or equal to version 2004 will be updated.
Windows 10 updates may be controversial, but no one is likely to deny that they are a pretty important part of any working system. Microsoft announced that in the near future the company will begin installing the latest version of Windows, marked 20H2, for devices approaching the end of technical support (EOS).
Support for Windows 10 version 1903 has come to an end, and in the case of 1909 this will happen in May 2021. Microsoft, with the help of machine learning, will automatically update compatible devices. Therefore, those using versions older than 2004 can expect to be forced to update in the coming weeks, and for 2004 build - in the second half of 2021.
Users will be notified of the forced update via Windows Update. The process itself is supposed to take place in such a way as to avoid rebooting the system when we're using your PC and don't really want that. However, if we are willing to test the new version of Windows 10, the update can be downloaded manually from the Windows settings.
According to Microsoft, the update may not be available immediately as it will be rolled out gradually. The company has fixed most of the critical bugs in version 20H2 in this year's updates, so once the system forces the update, users should complain less about experiencing any issues. Windows 10 Update 21H1 is expected in May or June, followed by Windows 10 Sun Valley in October or November.
