The Witcher Remake Without New Dialogues? CDP Hasn't Called English Voice of Geralt
The actor who played Geralt in the English edition of the first Witcher may not reprise his role in the remake - unless the game is still in too early a stage for the devs to think about recording dialogues.
Remake of the first The Witcher may do without new dialogues, at least in English. For it seems that CD Projekt has not (yet?) contacted Doug Cockle, who provided his voice to Geralt in the original release of the game (and its sequel and third part as well).
Robert Purchese from Eurogamer interviewed the aforementioned voice actor during a recent episode of his one-to-one podcast. Cockle admitted that he would love to play the white-haired Witcher again in a new version of the first installment.
However, for now, the Polish developer has not contacted him, and as a result the actor knows only as much about the remake as was officially revealed by CD Projekt Group as part of the announcement in October: the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and Fool's Theory is responsible for it.
It should be remembered that the project Canis Majoris (the refresh of the original The Witcher was revealed under such a codename) is still at a very early stage of work. What's more, the title is to be released already after the debut of the new Witcher saga - which we can expect in 2025-2026 at the earliest - and use the technology developed for it.
So it is possible that CD Projekt will still contact Doug Cockle. Of course, it's just as well it may turn out that the developers will re-record Geralt's dialogue lines, only this time with a different voice actor (although fans could react negatively to such a change). It is also impossible to completely exclude the option that dialogue recordings from the original will be used. We are waiting for official information.
