The Day Before is a controversial game. Some players even thought that it does not exist. However, they have been proven wrong. The title is plagued with various issues though. At the moment it has very low rating of positive reviews on Steam (only 15%). One of the problems is connected to Out of Memory error. Many players experience it, let’s look at it.
The Day Before Out of Memory Issue Explained
Remember that the title is in early access. Playing such games, you have to be prepared for some inconveniences.
First of all, there are many potential fixes for this issue, you may try them:
- Turn off applications working in the background.
- Check if you fit minimal requirements.
- Lower your graphics settings.
- Update drivers.
However, we highly doubt any of them will help you. It seems that the problem strikes many people, even those with a lot of memory in their PC. It is likely that it is not connected to memory itself, but to something completely different. Sadly, we don’t know yet to what.
UPDATE: This issue may be connected to computers using 13th gen Intel CPUs. While it seems that the error is with memory, it is caused by problems with Unreal Engine and DirectX 12. To fix this, you can try adding “-d3d11” (without quotation marks) to the launch options of The Day Before.
It seems that we will have to wait more for some brilliant workaround (and we know that players are quite ingenus in such cases) or for developers’ patch (hopefully sooner rather than later). The title is full of various problems, so they will have a lot to do.
