Swen Vincke Finally Didn't Have Wrap it Up; Baldur's Gate 3 Creator Brings Full Speech From TGA

Baldur's Gate 3 launching on XSX/S wasn't all that Swen Vincke „forgot” to convey at the TGA 2023 gala. The developer also had a thank you to employees, partners and players, and a reminder that video games are not about money.

Swen Vincke had to wrap it up at The Game Awards 2023 gala so much that he "forgot" about a very important announcement regarding Baldur's Gate 3. Fortunately, not only Geoff Keighley announced changes to the event's formula as a result, but also Larian Studios head has published an "extended version," so to speak, of his TGA 2023 speech.

Unfortunately, the creator did it in text-only form, so we don't have the pleasure of seeing him speak once again in armor, as we did at the gala (which, by the way, he had to do due to an earlier promise). Vincke published this "transcript" on X.

Anyway, Vincke mentioned his "gala" outfit in a series of posts. The president of Larian Studios went to The Game Awards 2023 in armor to pay tribute to the gaming community, without which there would be no BG 3, and to thank them for their support of the project - from early access to post-release support of the game.

Vincke also did not fail to mention other people from the more than 2,000 names listed in the credits of BG3, without whom the third Baldur's Gate would never come to be, and who "don't always get the recognition they deserve": testers, the customer service team, the publishing department, etc. He also listed those who passed away during the course of the game's development, including Jim Southworth (the lead animator, who died in November) and his father (who died a week before early access to BG3 began).

The developer also recalled, money earned from games is just "fuel" that studios should use to create "new and better games." And, besides Baldur's Gate 3 "is already out" on Xbox Series X/S.
