Baldur's Gate 4 with much-loved cast of BG 3? Actors say yes, but they have conditions
Baldur's Gate 3's acting cast became friends during the game's development and would be happy to play the characters of Larian Studios' masterpiece once again. As long as the new game wouldn't turn Shadowheart and the party into their cartoon versions.
Larian Studios won't be returning to Baldur's Gate anytime soon, but the cast of Baldur's Gate 3 would love to play the characters in this title again. Such a statement was made in an interview conducted by Games Radar.
According to Jennifer English (who voiced Shadowheart), the BG 3 voice actors would love to return to the Forgotten Realms – either in a sequel or DLC. However, they set one condition: it would have to be a "great" project, with dialogue quality comparable to that of Larian Studios. According to English, this is the main reason why players loved the third Baldur's Gate, and the new studio could turn Shadowheart into a "cartoon" version of it.
I think we're [the cast of BG 3] all open to the future of it.

If there is a future with Shadowheart, I would want it to be beautifully written and honor the game's audience, and how inclusive and forward-thinking Larian is. If that opportunity came up and she was beautifully written, and that audience and inclusivity was honored, I would certainly consider it – but only with those conditions.

I wouldn't want to take her and make her into a cartoon version of her [Shadowheart]. I'd want to go forward with that only if it honors her in a way I think we would all be proud of.
Of course, these are just wishes of English (and the rest of the cast, who reportedly became good friends during the work on the game). The team at Larian Studios has made it clear that it is not interested in continuing the Baldur's Gate story for now.
Even if the fourth installment was actually to be announced by Wizards of the Coast, the return of well-known BG 3 characters would be questionable. Not to mention how long such a game would take to develop if it was to compete with the hit that is Baldur's Gate 3.
Side note: Swen Vicke will be attending The Game Awards 2024 as one of the event's presenters (via Geoff Keighley on X). Perhaps he'll once again don the armor he wore last year when Baldur's Gate 3 was hailed as the best game of 2023.
