Squadron 42 - Beta-tests „Staggered” by Three Months
Cloud Imperium Games has announced that both its games - Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will be developed in „Staggered Development” mode. For this reason, the Squadron 42 beta-tests have been delayed by three months.
Cloud Imperium Games has just announced that Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will be developed in "Staggered Development" mode from now on. This is an approach that allocates different teams to different, previously planned updates (e.g. team no. 1 works on the X update, while team no. 2 works on the Y update at the same time). The solution will allow developers to devote more time to specific features, and yet the players will continue to receive updates on a quarterly basis.
It turns out, however, that this also has its drawbacks, because Cloud Imperium Games also announced that due to the introduction of a different mode of work, the beta version of Squadron 42, which is a separate single-player campaign for Star Citizen, will be delayed by three months. The studio claims that this is a necessary step to implement the required changes.
This means that beta-tests planned for the second quarter of 2020 will be held in the autumn. For the same reason, the official release date will most likely be delayed to the beginning of 2021 or so, and we've been waiting for it for a few years now. You can check the status of work on specific chapters of Squadron 42 here.
It is worth mentioning, that the fans of the game have already supported the project with more than 233 million dollars. This money will undoubtedly be useful for the further development of the title and hopefully it will guarantee the stabilization of its release date.
