Sony Will Acquire Bluepoint After All? Speculation Continues
The rumors of Sony acquiring Bluepoint are not going away. Insiders suggest that this scenario will actually come true and the announcement will be made later this week. On the other hand, creators of Demon's Souls remake continue to emphasize their independence.
Last week it was announced that Sony is taking over Housemarque, the studio responsible for Returnal. At the same time, PlayStation Japan released a graphic that suggested Bluepoint, the company known for Demon's Souls Remake, among other things, had also been acquired. However, that post has since been deleted. Despite this, rumors on the topic keep surfacing.
The mere appearance of the picture doesn't actually mean anything. It only indicates that talks between Sony and Bluepoint actually took place. However, their result remains unknown. Two scenarios are likely - the announcement was made too soon or negotiations were broken off at the last minute.
The first version of events seems to be suggested by insiders. The co-founder of Xboxera.com, known on Twitter as Nick, suggested that during the next event organized by Sony we will be shown a surprise as the acquisition of Bluepoint is to be announced.
Business analyst Roberto Serrano, meanwhile, has published two minimalist posts. The first one consists only of emotes. The second, on the other hand, specifies the date. They show that there will be some sort of gaming event on July 8. The heart's color, on the other hand, may suggest that it will be related to Sony.
It's worth noting that during all the confusion, Bluepoint's Twitter description has been changed to emphasize the studio's independence. However, it's hard to say whether it's not a smokescreen, which was supposed to silence the rumors.
At this point it is hard to say whether Bluepoint will actually be acquired by Sony. We will find out whether the insiders' reports were true on July 8.
