Sony Establishes New Studio to Support Naughty Dog in Work on AAA Game
Sony is looking to hire a senior game developer to helm the project of an unannounced AAA games. It is to be developed in collaboration with Naughty Dog, the creators of the Uncharted series and The Last of Us.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is building a new development team. It is to join forces with PlayStation Studios Visual Arts, to create an unannounced AAA game in collaboration with Naughty Dog.
This is what is stated in a job offer published by Sony. The company is looking for a senior producer with comprehensive experience in AAA game design - they will be required to participate in at least two such projects, including holding the aforementioned position throughout the production of at least one of them - and commanding the team on various levels.
Interestingly, although the game has not been officially announced - and this is unlikely to change soon - SIE, PSS Visual Arts and Naughty Dog reportedly already have a clear vision of it and a release plan. All indications are that it's a brand new title, but it can't be ruled out that the recruitment is underway with the next installment of the Uncharted series in mind.
Christina-Marie Drake McBrearty, who has served as a recruiter at Naughty Dog since April 2022, some time ago announced finally that "her job will be to recruit developers who will not only work on new titles, but also develop the legacy of Uncharted". It's hard to say whether the two pieces of information are related, but one can certainly get that impression.
It is worth mentioning that PSS Visual Arts was founded in 2007 by former SIE employee Michael Mumbauer. The team - which specializes in creating animations, cinematic cut-scenes or concept arts, as well as conducting motion capture sessions and 3D scanning - has helped design high-budget games over the years, including Marvel's Spider-Man or Uncharted. The last game in which PSS Visual Arts took part was The Last of Us: Part I.
