As announced, last night Konami hosted a stream where they finally showcased Silent Hill f. The biggest attraction was the new trailer, but we also learned a lot about this project.

  1. The platforms have finally been confirmed. The game is heading to PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5. The fact that the title will hit XSX/S is a pleasant surprise, as last year's Silent Hill 2 Remake was released exclusively on PC and PS5.
  2. The PC version will be sold on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
  3. Unfortunately, the planned release date hasn't yet been announced.
  4. Interestingly, this will be the series' first installment with an 18+ age rating in Japan (via Automaton-Media).

The game is being developed by Neobards Entertainment studio. This team has previously assisted with many Capcom projects, such as RE Resistance, Resident Evil Re: Verse, or DMC HD Collection.

Silent Hill f plot

The game will take us back to the 1960s, to the Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. Silent Hill f will tell the story of a high school girl named Shimizu Hinako, and the script will touch on elements such as doubts, regret, and inevitable choices.

Steam has been allowing developers to add warnings about controversial content on game cards for a while now, and Konami has used this feature, providing us with an insight into what this title will include.

This game contains depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture, and graphic violence.

This game is set in Japan in the 1960s and contains depictions based on the customs and culture of that time. These depictions do not reflect the opinions or values of the developers or any individuals involved.

If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break from playing or speak to someone you trust.

Thus, we can anticipate a challenging scenario that will not avoid tackling serious issues. This isn't surprising, as the plot is created by Ryukishi07, the developer of well-received visual novel titles such as Higurashi and Umineko. During the stream, after showing the trailer, he stated that he had put all his creative powers into Silent Hill f. To the extent that he wouldn't mind if the game turned out to be his last work.

The music will be composed by Akira Yamaoka, known from previous installments. However, he won't do it alone. Composers Kensuke Inage, dai, and xaki also participate in writing the soundtrack. The involvement of these last two is particularly big, as they are musicians who have previously worked with Ryukishi07 on his visual novel projects. Kera is responsible for character designs, including monsters.
