RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 - 45 Years to Complete Record Ride
One of the fans of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 decided to do something that seemed impossible a few months ago. He built a ride that takes more than 45 years to complete.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is already old and almost everyone but the true enthusiasts has forgotten about the game. One of them is a man named Marcel Vos, who recently published a video, on which he explains, step by step, the rules of operation of the longest ride in history. The video was titled "45 years in hell" and it's not called so without a reason. It would take more than 45 years in real life to complete the longest RCT2 in history.
A similar achievement seems unlikely for those who have dealt with the game only at a basic level. It takes many years of dedication and a true madness to carry out projects like the one we are discussing today. Marcel probably has it all, as he's proved many times before.
Last December, a very similar video appeared on his channel. The footage showed exactly the same ride, but it took "only" 12 years to cover the whole route. It turns out that this was due to a bug, with which the developers (still running the OpenRCT2 project) managed to deal without any problems. The result is a work that Satan himself would not be ashamed of - a queue that would take 107,911,680 days to travel in the game, which, at normal speed levels, gives us an impressive result of 45 years and 72 days in real life.
Such an advanced project would not have been possible without an appropriate approach. Marcel had to use glitches and mechanics to achieve such result. The car doesn't just ride around like most of us would design the ride. This multi-level track, which occupies almost the entire map of the park, goes both ways. First forward at minimum speed, and then bounces off an overly sloping climb and returns at eight times slower speed. In the previous version of the rite - which would have taken 12 years to complete - this could not be achieved de to an error. The cars going backwards were constantly accelerating until they reached the speed they were developing when they moved forward, which should not be the case.
Marcel has reached total maximum in terms of ride length. Each map has a limit of 141 thousand elements present on it, which unfortunately can no longer be increased in any way.
Marcel uses a few other glitches in the game, such as a docking section malfunction that allows only one small car to leave for every eight laps completed by the large ride.
The ride designer is an absolute master in what he does, and there is hardly anyone in the world who could beat his record. The only threat to Marcel and his achievements is himself.
