Psychonauts 2 Almost Done And Without Crunch
Tim Schafer, the founder of Double Fine, revealed that work on Psychonauts 2 is coming to an end. He promised to do without crunch in the last stage of development.
In the latestm Holidays update on the progress of Psychonauts 2, Tim Schafer, head of Double Fine Productions, revealed that the game is on the final straight. Thus, one can even be sure that the sequel of Raz's adventures - after the protracted work - will finally debut in 2021. The period of adding new things is over - the game can be played through from beginning to end, and now the devs focus on an intensive process of polishing the content and fixing errors.
After the acquisition by Microsoft, Double Fine is in a comfortable situation and can afford to work normally. Tim Schafer - taught by his experience with the first part of Psychonauts - wants to avoid any crunch in the pdevelopment process. The developers, while designing the predecessor, sometimes happened to sit for up to 12 hours a day to refine their work on time. The founder of Double Fine does not intend to repeat mistakes of the past, although if the plans to joing the Xbox Game Studios family last year failed, there could have been a lot of overtime, as in the case of The Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077.
Psychonauts 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but considering Tim Schafer's latest announcement, we should get to know it soon. Either way, a debut in 2021 seems likely. The platform game will hit PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be available in Xbox Game Pass on the day of release.
