PS5 - DualSense's Vibrations Will let Us Feel Raindrops
According to developer Mike Bithell - creator of Thomas Was Alone - the DualSense pad for the PS5 will enable the player to „feel the raindrops”.
In the latest episode of the Play, Watch, Listen podcast, developer Mike Bithell (known from Thomas Was Alone) referred to PlayStation 5's DualSense controller. The developer praised the technology developed by Sony. He noted that if the 3D audio offered by the PS5 enables the player to hear individual rain drops, the controller's vibrations are to let him feel them (you'll find his statement at the end of the video).
"All I'm saying, Austin [speaking of another podcast participant, Austin Wintory - editorial note] is you're gonna love with what the are doing with the controller for PS5," quote Mike Bithell.
It is worth noting that the developer in question has seen demos presenting the technology in action. This suggests that Sony is eager to boast about the device, showing it even to small studios.
Sony officially introduced the DualSense controller in early April this year. The device differs in shape from the previous pads of the Japanese manufacturer (the so-called DualShocks) and apart from advanced haptic technology it also has adaptive triggers, built-in microphone, USB-C connector and Create button (it will replace the previous Share). The device has been vividly received by the Internet, and its appearance has caused a wave of memes.
