Forza Horizon 5 Will Launch on PS5 This Spring
In the first of possibly many more Xbox games launching on other consoles, Forza Horizon 5 will make the jump to the rival PlayStation 5 this Spring.

Previously an Xbox exclusive, the popular and critically acclaimed racing game, Forza Horizon 5, will be coming to rival console, PlayStation 5, this Spring. This Xbox exclusive title was originally released in 2021 and remains the number two highest reviewed game of that year according to OpenCritic, with a 92 out of 100. Critics, including us, praised the larger map and handcrafted experiences that brought the latest entry in the series to a new level.
Long-time Xbox exclusive, Forza Horizon 5, will arrive on PlayStation 5 this Spring
The days of the console wars may be fizzling out, as Xbox Games Studios published Forza Horizon 5, from developer Playground Games, announces plans to launch on PlayStation 5. This comes after the last year of rumors about various Xbox games finding their way onto the rival console, including mainstays like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Gears of War. Forza Horizon 5 will be the first game in the Xbox published series to arrive on Sony’s console.
The PlayStation 5 port of Forza Horizon 5 will be handled by Panic Button, a studio that has previously ported Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal to the Nintendo Switch. Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios (Forza Motorsport) will assist with the jump. Forza Horizon posted the announcement on social media, also confirming that cross-play will be available across all platforms.
In a blog post, the Forza developers gave more details. All previously released Car Packs, including the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions, will be available for purchase on the PlayStation version of the game. The Forza team also announced a new free content update that will become available on all platforms called Horizon Realms. This new content updated “will give players the chance to explore a curated collection of some of the community’s favorite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises.”
This announcement comes days after Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer talked about how he sees no reason to keep Xbox games away from other platforms. This may be the first of many upcoming announcements of major Xbox Studios games to make the jump. And it won’t just be PlayStation. In the same interviews earlier this week, Spencer stated Microsoft’s intent to strongly support the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
There’s no telling what games will be announced next but based on Spencer’s comments and attitudes towards future exclusivity, it seems like everything is on the table. Games like Starfield, Halo, and Gears of War could arrive sooner than we think on PlayStation.
