PS1 Games on Xbox Series X and S in 4K and 60 FPS
The creators of the Modern Vintage Gamer channel on YouTube have used the Xbox Series S console to emulate the first PlayStation. Thanks to the properties of the software and the power of the new hardware, the games run at 4K and 60 fps.
Revisiting the classics from the days of the first PlayStation isn't difficult nowadays, but to enjoy them in their full glory, you need to rack your brain a bit. The creators of the Modern Vintage Gamer channel on YouTube convince us that it's possible to run them on modern consoles, especially those from Microsoft. They used an Xbox S Series in Developer Mode and then ran a PS1 emulator called DuckStation 1. With a few simple tweaks to the settings, games like Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider and Chrono Cross ran at 4K and 60 fps. See for yourself.
Stenzek's software not only enables us to run old titles, but also significantly improve their performance. The creators of the material paid special attention to three features. First, the internal scaling of the resolution, enabling us to increase it by up to 16 times, or up to 8K. Secondly, the perspective correction optionm which makes good use of the power inherent in Microsoft's console. Thirdly, tweaking resolution, which enables PS1 games to run at 60fps.
What's important is that you don't breach your Xbox warranty - you'll just need to pay a one-off fee of around $15 for access the Developer Mode. Moreover, creators from Modern Vintage Gamer ensure that you can simililarly emulate Nintendo Wii, Game Cube, Dreamcast from Sega or the second PlayStation. What's more, we do not need a 9th-gen console to do this, because the same thing can be done for example on the XONE. So you can say that Microsoft hardware can be transformed into a kind of emulation center.
