Assassin's Creed: Shadows boasts RDR 2-level attention to detail. On the other side are bugs and enemy AI

Assassin's Creed: Shadows has the very nice detail of real-time melting snow. On the other side, however, are bugs and poor AI of enemies.

Yesterday, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, a game many refer to as Ubisoft's last hope, was released. The title received decent reviews from critics, though it wasn't exceptional in any way, and it experienced a solid yet somewhat unimpressive launch on Steam. However, we cannot deny that the developers have put a lot of work into certain elements of the game, such as snow.

On X, one of the users posted a short gameplay video, showing very natural behavior of the snow lying on the ground. It turns out that when the sun comes out, it melts in real-time, which we can observe without any problem. In the video, the process is accelerated to allow us to better observe the effect, which can be striking and certainly makes the world appear more vibrant.

This is a detail that will probably go unnoticed by most players, but one that even Rockstar Games, known for its great attention to detail, would not be ashamed of. AC: Shadows is far from being like Red Dead Redemption 2, but many people in the comments admit that it is a nice touch.

Unfortunately, it fails in the face of many issues that players point out in videos. The title suffers from bugs that shoot our character into the air, and materials exposing weak enemy AI are multiplying like bunnies. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that details such as melting snow helps to build the atmosphere of the world, and this one, it seems, turns out quite well.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is available on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
