PoE 2 forced rival to escape. Last Epoch Season 2 delayed because devs want to avoid „splitting the player base”
The second season of Last Epoch has a new release date. The developers of hack'n'slash want to avoid „splitting the player base” with a rival studio.

In early February, Eleventh Hour Games studio revealed the release date of the second season of the highly rated Last Epoch. Unfortunately, the devs announced a new start date for Season 2 today, citing the close release date of an update to a competing title as the reason. They didn't specify exactly which game it is, but there is only one candidate - Path of Exile 2, which will receive a major update Dawn of the Hunt on April 4, 2025.
Finally, The Tombs of The Erased for Last Epoch will begin on April 17, 2025. Originally, the new content was scheduled to be released for this hack'and'slash on April 2nd.
We’ve recently learned that our friends in the ARPG space have chosen a release date just a couple days after ours which would divide the player base and hinder the success of our Season 2 launch. Last Epoch is still a smaller studio in this space that looks towards each of its launches as a way to continue to sustain the studio financially and work on the things we are most passionate about.
It is with a heavy heart that we are forced to move our release date of Season 2: Tombs of the Erased, to April 17th.
As we adjust our launch date, we invite our community to help us spread the word so that everyone can join in the Season 2 experience, a massive update to Last Epoch that we’re thrilled to share with you.
The company underlined that it is still a small studio in the video game industry. Therefore, it cannot afford an unnecessary division of fans, on whom the success of the upcoming second season depends.
So far, Last Epoch received over 101,000 reviews from Steam users, of which 77% are positive. At its peak, 264,708 people played the game simultaneously, but in recent months this number has drastically dropped, stabilizing at about 2-4 thousand players at the same time.
