Diablo 4's Competitor, Action RPG Last Epoch, Is Set to Get a „Full Refresh,” Including a Major Overhaul of Its Economy
Eleventh Hour Games studio announced that the action RPG Last Epoch is about to undergo some big changes. With the upcoming event, the developers plan to fix the game's economy.
The developers of the game Last Epoch, Eleventh Hour Games studio, decided to make an (un)expected move. The hack'n'slash action RPG will soon receive a "full refresh" to coincide with "The Imperial Uprising" event. The event will start on September 19 at 9:00 p.m. PT and will last until October 20.
The announcement, made via Steam, states that the event will see players slaying hordes of skeletons of all shapes and sizes to keep the Immortal Emperor, whose "head has become too large for his crown," in check. We can also expect numerous bonuses – to faction reputation, the amount of gold dropped by monsters, item drop rates, etc. – and quality of life changes, including shrines, stashes, and searching for items in the bazaar.
Above all, however, with "The Imperial Uprising" in Last Epoch, the economy is undergoing a thorough overhaul. However, the developers emphasize that it won't be update 1.2, but rather a sort of extension of patch 1.1, so no balance adjustments will be made.
This means that characters from the Harbingers of Ruin season will be included in the legacy cycle. Moreover, we will have a reset of the ladders and the development of the economy will start from scratch. The developers explain that these actions are a response to the requests of players who complained about loopholes in the game that allowed for cheating, for example, duplicating items.
[…] game difficulty should be balanced by player skill and effort, not by someone’s ability to exploit game mechanics or violate Terms of Service. When these things happen, we understand the frustration they can cause, and rest assured, we take it very seriously -- we read in the statement.
Moreover, the community expected a quick improvement in the quality of gameplay, and according to the developers, the implementation of a full update could take quite a long time. Restarting Last Epoch will allow developers to efficiently implement some changes.
It's also worth mentioning that on September 19, Last Epoch will receive official verification for the Steam Deck. This means that the title should work much better on Valve's handheld. We will receive more information about the upcoming update on September 17th.
