Announced during BlizzCon, the Season of Discovery update has finally made its way to World of Warcraft Classic. Since yesterday, fans of the popular MMORPG have been playing the well-known game with a brand new and - let's not be afraid to use the word - groundbreaking update.

What makes this update interesting is the fact that Season of Discovery divides the game into four stages. During the first one, players can reach a maximum of level 25, while each subsequent one raises that limit (to a maximum of 60), while offering new content (starting with a 10-player Blackfathom Deeps raid after reaching level 25).

However, that's not all Blizzard has prepared for fans. Season of Discovery also introduces a new rune system (at the first stage there will be 12 of them for each class), modifying the performance of our character. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the builds will be tested in a special PvP event held in Ashenvale.

Below you can watch a 13-minute video, where senior producer Josh Greenfield and chief software engineer Nora Valletta, introduce fans to Season of Discovery.

Crowds of players on the servers

We've see a few words about the update itself, and now it's time for its reception. It turns out that Blizzard has a lot of reasons to be happy, because many players have received Season of Discovery very warmly. On the official forum of the game there is no shortage of positive comments on the new content. Interestingly, there are even opinions saying that the developers have provided fans with the best fun since 2004, the release of the original WoW. Below you can read some sample reactions.

"New, cool elements, plays a lot more people than expected, SoD is a big hit," declares Elarcun.

"I haven't had this much fun since 2004, good job," praises Amashockya.

"I haven't played any version of Classic until SoD. I am having a great time," writes Zenoku.

"I tried it out last night and thought it was ok, just like in the Classic era, but then I got a Fury of Stormrage relic that doesn't deplete Wrath when it hits, and found it to be great fun," reports Owlchemy.

However, we need to mention a fly in the ointment in the form of queues to the servers, which players complained about almost all night.. However, the situation apparently has not improved significantly, as participating in the game - and, importantly, staying in it - is still quite a challenge.
