Person 4 PC's Success Encouraged Sega to Port More Games
The success of the PC version of Persona 4 Golden was so great that Sega is planning more ports of old console hits. Players bet on other Atlus games such as Persona 5 or Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster.
The PC version of Persona 4 Golden proved to be a true hit, selling more than half a million copies within a month after its release. This success did not escape the attention of Sega, the game's publisher, which announced that we can expect further ports, not only to PC, but also to new consoles.
This information was provided during the conference with investors. CEO Haruki Satomi explained that the excellent reviews of Persona 4 PC together with the relatively low price made the game perform much better than expected. Therefore, further ports of older titles are planned, as well as a greater emphasis on the fact that new titles should be created immediately with PCs in mind.
Haruki Satomi did not say it explicitly, but many people assume that Sega's CEO particularly meant games from Atlus. The natural candidates for porting seem to be Persona 3 and Persona 5. It would also be nice to see the PC releases of upcoming games, such as Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster or Shin Megami Tensei V.
Players expect that Haruki Satomi had Atlus in mind, because apart from the games from this studio, Sega is already porting most of its positions to PC. The success of Valkyria Chronicles made Valkyria Chronicles 4 hit PCs on the same day as the consoles. The company is has also been successively publishing the Ryu ga Gotoku series on PC. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 have already been released on PC, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon is also on its way. However, PC gamers are still waiting for port announcements of the remaining parts of the series and last year's Judgment.
Sega understands the importance of the PC, as it has long invested in this hardware platform. In addition to ports, the publisher also owns several large development studios, such as Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive, Relic Entertainment and Amplitude Studios, which specialize in making PC games.
