Over 2M Players Waiting for Manor Lords, Surprisingly to Developers
Even the developer and publisher of Manor Lords did not expect such interest in the Polish strategy game, which is entering Steam's Early Access.
We have heard about independent, small studios that were surprised by the popularity of their own productions a few times in the past. Now, we can add the creator and publisher of Manor Lords to the list, as the Polish game attracted the attention of over a hundred times more players than expected.
A strategy about managing a medieval realm delighted users in mid-2020, and subsequent gameplays and playable demos successfully maintained interest in the project. However, we had to wait until last October for the early access announcement. As if that wasn't enough, the release date is still relatively distant: Manor Lords will hit Steam Early Access on April 26.
This doesn't prevent the title from conquering Steam, though. Currently, Manor Lords ranks second in the list of most frequently wishlisted games on this platform (via SteamDB). This alone testifies to the gigantic interest of players in the game. However, Hooded Horse also provided an exact number: Manor Lords is on the wishlists of over 2 million players on Steam (via X).
It probably goes without saying that this would be a huge success for any production, let alone a project essentially created by one person. Grzegorz Styczen didn't expect such an explosion of interest.
As he revealed in the press release (via GamesPress), after the announcement of Manor Lords, the creator expected about 14,000 users to add the game to their wishlist. He treated this as an "optimistic" scenario - his girlfriend predicted 7 thousand wishlist adds. No forecasts were given by Hooded Horse, but the publisher probably didn't expect such a great interest in this project either.
Of course, only the release of the early version will show whether Manor Lords deserves its popularity. Nevertheless, for now, the project seems promising and we can believe that it will not disappoint. We will find out about this in three months. From the day of debut, the game will also be available in PC Game Pass subscription. The title will offer a cinematic localization.
