Oblivion Locations Return in New ESO Expansion. Here's the Gold Road Trailer
Fans of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be able to return to familiar locations in the latest addition to Bethesda's online spin-off of the series.
Xbox Developer Direct 2024 didn't come with major surprises, but we couldn't really complain about the lack of attractions either. In addition to materials from the upcoming games, a new expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online - Gold Road - was announced at the show.
Bethesda Softworks presented a cinematic trailer for the upcoming expansion during the event. The developers also announced that the player base of The Elder Scrolls Online has surpassed 24 million. We posted the video below.
The plot of ESO: Gold Road will focus on Ithelia - a forgotten (actually, completely new to the series) daedric princess, whose return resonated widely across Tamriel. Her loyal followers are particularly noticeable around the city of Skingrad in the Cyrodiil province, in the West Weald, a location that fans of the series may recognize from Oblivion.
The coming of Ithelia will bring players not just another plotline (where we will attempt to disrupt her minions' plans) and new places to visit. The characters can repel Daedric invasions in a new "world" event (Mirrormoor Incursions), take on a PvE trial for twelve people (Lucent Citadel), and try out previously unavailable abilities and a completely new system for personalizing them (Scribbing). There will also be special loot to get.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road will be released on June 3 on PC and on June 18 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The standard edition of the expansion is now available for pre-order at a price of $39.99 on Steam, $59.99 on Sony platforms and $59.99 on Microsoft devices. You can also buy a more expensive Deluxe edition with extra items, as well as two "collection" options that include all previous expansions.
