Bloober Team's Silent Hill Almost Certain; Studio Signs Deal With Konami
Bloober Team signed a contract with Konami. This practically confirms the rumors according to which the Polish team is developing a game from the Silent Hill franchise.
Rumors about the return of the Silent Hill series appear regularly and until now nothing came out of them, so some fans started to lose hope. Now, finally, we know that something is really up. The board of Bloober Team informed [in Polish] about signing a cooperation deal with Konami Digital Entertainment.
The team specializes in horror games, so it is practically certain that the studio is working on a new game from the Silent Hill franshice. Let's recall that in February Bloober Team informed that one of the projects it was working on was a horror game for a big publisher. Already then, many people predicted that it was a new Silent Hill and today's announcement pretty much confirms that this is what will happen.
Let's recall that Bloober Team has created such games as Observer, Blair Witch or the Layers of Fear series. In January this year, the team released The Medium, which is the studio's most ambitious project to date. One of the composers of the game's soundtrack was Akira Yamaoka, the artist responsible for the music to the best installments of Silent Hill. Now, the Polish studio will have another opportunity to work with the artist.
It is worth mentioning that, according to speculation, this is not the only new game from the franchise, which is planned by Konami. The second game is to be created by a Japanese developer. According to the rumors, Bloober Team's project will offer gameplay vastly different from the classic Silent Hill formula so most probably we can expect an adventure game instead of a classic survival horror. On the other hand, the game created in the Land of the Rising Sun will be a more traditional continuation.
