Baldur's Gate 3 is getting more updates and hotfixes. Unfortunately, not all changes are positively received by the community.

This can be perfectly seen in patch 3, which, in addition to the awaited features, such as a magic mirror that enables us to customize the appearance of our character, also introduced controversial changes in the inventory management.

More time in the inventory menu

What's the problem? Well, along with the latest patch, a feature was added to the game, due to which when a companion is disconnected - even for a short while - all items treated by the game as key items are automatically transferred to the protagonist's inventory., including weapons.

The new system in theory is helpful - especially for poorly organized players - as it prevents items from getting "lost", which can have a huge impact on developments in the game world.

The trouble is that the space for equipment that wouldn't overload a character in Baldur's Gate 3, is very limited - especially among the main non-strength-based heroes. In addition, many viewers since the game's release have complained about of very cumbersome inventory navigation, causing them to have to spend a lot of time going through their gear.

Patch 3, on the other hand, instead of relieving players of this aspect, made it necessary to spend more time managing and "clicking through" windows.

"It's annoying now that every time I change a character, it gives me their camp supplies, alchemist's pouch, etc. I don't want that. I have my own. Keep it with you!"

"The solution for players who are bad at keeping track of their key items should not result in the rest of us being punished by changing our method of organizing our inventory and automatically changing items every time we want to change an active character on the team. This is a bad fix for a problem experienced by a small percentage of players."

A simple solution to the problem

Ironically, the solution that could fix the problem discussed is trivially simple, as suggested by a significant number of Internet users commenting on the thread. The idea is to add an option to view the inventory of characters who are not currently in our party, but are, for example, in the camp.

"If they [Larian Studios - editor's note] want to improve item management, they should just let me access my inventory in camp, without having characters in the party. Let's not play hot potato with items."

Admittedly, this way could disrupt the immersion a bit, but hey, this is, after all, fantasy and, above all, a game where certain conventionality are necessary for the players' satisfaction.

Ultimately, fans of BG3 will be left with numerous modifications, although this is an area reserved mainly for PC users.
