- Minecraft received snapshot 21w07a;
- It introduces a new type of block called grimstone;
- Some textures and world generation rules have also been improved.
On February 17, a new update for Minecraft was released, called Snapshot 21w07a. Among the changes introduced by the patch the most striking is a new block, which was made available to players. It is called grimstone and is another type of rock that appears in the game world.
It is darker than the basic version of stone, but has similar properties. It can be found at all levels from 0 to the bottom of the map (bedrock). Like the previously introduced chernite, grimstone can also be used to construct tools usually crafted from stone. For example, we can use it to create a furnace, a brewing stand, or a shovel or pickaxe. The new block can also be converted into stairs, half-blocks, and polished walls and blocks.
In addition to the aforementioned new block type, Snapshot 21w07a also introduces many smaller changes. Large caves are now rarer and less likely to be flooded by water. The placement of individual ores has also been changed to match the new height of the generated world. Apart from that, new textures have also been introduced for all types of deposits except diamonds. The full list of changes can be found on the game's official website.
