It appears that Microsoft is planning to migrate Minecraft: Java Edition user accounts to its system. This should result in improved security. The information has not been officially confirmed by the Redmond giant. Its source is an entry on Reddit posted by user TheNeonNerd.

The news is made reliable by the fact that Minecraft's servers have been disabled for fifteen minutes as part of a maintenance break. All we can do is wait for confirmation or denial from Microsoft and possibly specific information about the migration rules (e.g. with regard to usernames).
