Venom Heralds World Healing in New Trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 [Update]
Insomniac Games and Sony are heating up the atmosphere ahead of the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In addition to a spectacular new trailer, a special PS5 console edition has been prepared for the fans.
Update
Those who want to hear everything what developers from Insomniac Games had to say about Spider-Man 2 during San Diego Comic-Con can watch the synopsis of the panel with their participation, made available by Sony - it's a 15-minute summary with the most interesting fragments:
Original post (July 21)
At this year's San Diego Comic-Con there was no shortage of information on Marvel's Spider-Man 2. During a special panel dedicated to this very game, its latest trailer was presented. And although the event was not streamed, Sony made sure that those not present at the event could watch the exciting footage. Here it is:
In addition to the trailer in question the creators revealed some facts about the plot of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
- The game begins at a particularly important and not necessarily easy moment for Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
- The former is struggling with overdue payments on his Aunt May's house, but is reluctant to sell it due to sentiment.
- Parker's beloved MJ wants to help him, but things aren't easy at her job either.
- Miles, on the other hand, has to take care of his studies, where hero duties are a constant obstacle.
- As we read on PlayStation's official blog, "the protagonists find themselves at a crossroads, with an uncertain future and some difficult decisions."
- To make matters worse, Kraven arrives in New York City for mysterious reasons. As Spider-Men and MJ delve into the hunter's motivations, a new threat emerges in the form of the symbiote.
New unique abilities
Insomniac Games has let out the secret about the new features each superhero will have.
"(...) This includes Pete's Spider Arms and symbiote powers, while Miles now brings two forms of bio-electric venom to every fight. And when you start combining these abilities with brand-new spider gadgets, such as the spider web, it can lead to exciting combinations," explains the company's senior creative director, Bryan Intihar.
In addition, the costumes of both spiders will have distinctive "web wings." Admittedly, we already got our first look at Web Wings during this year's PlayStation Showcase, but only now have the developers focused on this element.
"[...] For us, it was a great opportunity to introduce something that people have seen in comics and movies, and integrate it into the game. Web rocking is the basis of movement in the game, so we designed Web Wings to work with that element and complement it. You can combine it all to increase speed and height. With the power of the PS5, Web Wings add another layer to our movement system and change the way you look at moving around the city," explains the game's senior director, Ryan Smith.
Something for true Spider-Man fans
Finally, we left one more interesting piece of information for Spider-Man fans. Sony has officially revealed a limited edition PlayStation 5 console inspired by the upcoming game - complete with a unique DualSense controller.
Pre-orders start on July 28, and the device and controller itself are expected to hit the market on September 1. Interestingly, those who already own PS5 will be able to purchase the console overlays separately. Below you can see some photos showing this product.
Finally, let us remind you that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will debut on October 20 exclusively on the PlayStation 5 console.
