Free DLC for FNaF: Security Breach Fired Up Horror Fans
Debuting today, the free storyexpansion for the horror game Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach has attracted a ton of people to the game. The Ruin expansion is highly rated.
The near future promises to be very good for fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's series. October will see the premiere of the movie based on the hit by Scott Cawthon, and at the end of the year we will see the sequel to Help Wanted on VR devices. Today, meanwhile debuted a major story expansion for the latest installment in the series, Security Breach.
The free expansion, titled Ruin, has greatly interested the fans. At the time of writing this news Security Breach was being played by 15,000 players on Steam. This is a new activity record for the game. For comparison: before the release of Ruin the horror game was played by an average of 400-800 people. So there is no doubt that the sudden jump is due to the DLC.

Ruin is the first DLC for Security Breach and fans are probably pleased that it is free. Previous FNaF games from Steel Wool Studios received exclusively paid expansions. So far, the DLC is collecting favorable reviews on Steam - among nearly a thousand reviews, 90% are positive. Players do not complain about poor optimization, which is a nice change, considering that at launch the base game had many bugs that made it impossible to play Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex.
In the Ruin expansion for Security Breach we play as Cassie, the best friend of Gregory (the protagonist of the main story). Her task is to find and free her boyfriend inside the crumbling pizzeria. The gameplay, like in the basic version of the game, consists of avoiding the animatronics inside the establishment. Notably, Ruin is characterized by a darker atmosphere than the base game (as all robots are destroyed), which may appeal primarily to fans of the first FNaF games.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach - Ruin is available for free for owners of the basic game on PS4 and PS5 consoles or PC. The DLC will come out for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch at a later date.
