Spider-Man 2 PC release with performance issues. Players reports major FPS drops, stutters, and lags
Many have waited long to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, but for some, the performance is an absolute nightmare.

PC players can finally dive into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 after its original launch on October 20, 2023, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. But, like with other ports from console, such as God of War Ragnarok and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, day-one issues are pretty common. Some fans are already dealing with GPU drivers crashes, while others are noticing performance problems.
Stutters, lags, and crashes in Spider-Man 2 on PC
The first wave of PC players has already downloaded and launched Spider-Man 2, but for some, the experience hasn’t been smooth. Many are encountering crashes just minutes into gameplay, while others are struggling with FPS drops and major lag. If you're one of them, and also had no issues playing Spider-Man Miles Morales on PC, keep in mind that there's a gap of over two years between the two games.
So first, check if your rig is 2025 Spidy-ready:
Minimum system requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
- System RAM: 16 GB
Recommended system requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RTX 5700
- System RAM: 16 GB
Did I say 2025 Spidy-ready? More like 2020 at best! Anyway, there are new NVIDIA drivers for GeForce users – make sure they’re up to date. Also, Insomniac Games has already released a small update for Spider-Man 2, which may have fixed some performance issues.
If the problems persist, try common solutions like disabling overlays, checking the integrity of game files, and lowering your graphics settings to the minimum, even if your PC meets the recommended requirements. Lastly, make sure to install the game on an SSD, HDDs are really ancient relics by now, and they are not suitable for modern games.
