Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Launches Today; Last Big PS5 Exclusive of 2023
The long-awaited release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has finally arrived. The game has already won critical acclaim. Will it be the same for gamers?
More than five years after its release Marvel's Spider-Man, the game about the iconic friendly nieighborhood superhero finally got a full-fledged sequel (the adventures of Miles Morales should be treat as a supplement to the first game). From today, all fans of Peter Parker and Miles Morales can get acquainted with the new story prepared by Insomniac Games.
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a Sony exclusive, which is why it is available only on PlayStation 5.
- The digital version of the game can be purchased through the PlayStation store.
- The game is available in two editions: Standard and Deluxe, which includes the base game, five costumes each for Peter and Miles, additional items in photo mode, 5 skill points and early access to costumes and gadgets.
- For avid collectors, Sony has also prepared a collector's edition, which includes the digital game, a deluxe package, a steelbook and a 48-centimeter figurine depicting both Spider-Men battling Venom.
In the game prepared by Insomniac games, Peter Parker and Miles Morales must face three iconic villains. One of them is Kraven the Hunter, who, along with his companions, arrives in New York City to hunt down the Lizard (actually Dr. Curt Connors) - the second of the duo's adversaries. However, the most dangerous seems to be the third antagonist - the symbiotic Venom, who will initially bond with Peter, turning him into an increasingly unpredictable anti-hero.

The opinions of industry journalists suggest that Insomniac Games, colloquially speaking, has delivered again. Critics do not spare praise to the game, claiming that it surpasses the original, which was already considered excellent five years ago. At the time of writing this news on Metacritic Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is rated an average of 91 points (based on 130 reviews).
The devil is in the details
And although the action of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is still set in the familiar New York City, the game's developers have done their best to further refine the appearance of the Big Apple.
This also applies to the inhabitants of the metropolis. A thorough facelift has been given to the infamous "boat people," who, because of their somewhat frightening appearance, became the butt of jokes from both players and the developers themselves after the release of the first part.
Finally, let's add that at launch Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will lack the New Game Plus mode. The developers have informed however, that it will most likely be added in an update before the end of this year. We would also like to remind you that at the time of installing the game you will get the opportunity to download and apply the day one patch, which improves, among other things, the beginning of the game. Interestingly, the developers themselves say that you do not need to install it at all to have fun.
