„I'm not mad I'm just super disappointed.” Announced changes to Diablo 4 raise concerns among casual players
Diablo 4 fans are worried about the difficulty of the game in the upcoming Season. Some point out that Blizzard doesn't understand its audience, which is supposed to consist mostly of casuals.

During the last stream of the "Campfire Chat" series, Blizzard announced upcoming changes to Diablo 4 in Season 8. One of these is making the gameplay significantly harder, so that only 10% of players reach level 4 torment. Diablo 4 is currently a game for "dads," as even the brand's boss, Rod Fergusson, confirmed, so it's no wonder that the new change didn't appeal to some casual players.
Diablo 4's controversial difficulty
Browsing the forum of the fourth installment, we can easily find threads complaining about the announced difficulty. One of the more popular ones, started on March 8, has so far gathered almost 300 comments. Players state there that the developers are "completely unaware" of their actions, and as a result, they only drive players away.
I have heard some absolutely brainless and downright stupid comments from this games leadership but this one goes way beyond that. […] HOW does intentionally excluding 90% of a games players with "aspirational" even come to mind? This is mind boggling. "We don't want YOU to enjoy this content" is exactly what they are saying.
Some also pointed out that this is a change that would only appeal to the most hardcore players. The issue is that they have long since left Diablo 4 and moved on to other titles.
Is this the game for casuals or grinders? Because the 10% that grind to just grind have all left to play other games.
Is one of the most elitest statements I've ever read in a modern Diablo forum and stinks of the crap people who enjoy aRPGs have to deal with from the elitest view at Grinding Gear Games.
I'm not mad I'm just super disappointed.
Another player also noticed that those who replicate the top builds will eventually reach the fourth torment, though it will just take them longer. The difficulty of the game will most affect those who play in their own way and for fun, as they may eventually hit a wall.
Blizzard couldn't handle it anyway?
On the other hand, some players, taught by experience, sarcastically comment that Blizzard will not keep its word anyway, and the game will remain just as easy. A special video was even created by the YouTuber MacroBioBio, which analyzes the difficulties introduced on the Diablo 4 test server.
He proves that reaching the 4th level of torment shouldn't cause problems, even for casual players who don't have the perfect gear. People commenting on the Diablo 4 forum are not really surprised by this fact.
I am so surprised. Entirely completely surprised. Never been this surprised in my life.
I said the same here after my experience in the PTR. Others have stated this as well. Unless they nerf some of those boss powers there will be far more than 10 percent reaching T4. Ultra casuals can rest easy.
However, some people point out that comparing a casual player to a well-acquainted streamer doesn't make sense, even if the latter uses weaker builds. Nonetheless, the general conclusion is that the issue of game difficulty has been somewhat exaggerated, and casual gamers should not be overly discouraged.
