Homeworld 3 Devs Break Silence, New Gameplay Available
Nearly 2 years ago we received the official announcement of the 3rd installment of the Homeworld series. Despite the high expectations of fans, the devs have not revealed too many details about the game since then. Until now, because a new gameplay video has just appeared in the web.
Homeworld is an iconic RTS game series, originating in the 90s. The first part is still considered one of the most important titles in the genre. It is not surprising that the bar for those following in its footsteps is set extremely high. The developers decided to crowdfund Homeworld 3, despite the fact that they are not a team of novices, but an experienced studio.
The development of Homeworld 3 is handled by Blackbird Interactive, which has worked on both the prequel to the story of the warring races - Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak - and the restored editions of the first two installments, which were released as Homeworld Remastered Collection. The employees of this studio include people who took part in the creation of the original Homeworld, so we can expect that the latest work of Blackbird Interactive will be a spiritual heir to this classic representative of the RTS genre.
After a long period of silence, we finally received a sign of life from Blackbird Interactive. A video has appeared on the publisher's YouTube channel, Gearbox Official, in which we see a Railgun Frigate shooting at another ship. At first glance, we can see that work on the game is still at a fairly early stage. The whole video is not too impressive, and the situation is not improved by the lack of any sound background.
Despite everything, the new material shared by the developers gives hope that the work on Homeworld 3 will be completed. The game's release has been announced for the fourth quarter of 2022.
