Hero's Song Kickstarter campaign cancelled, but the game is coming out anyway
Hero's Song Kickstarter campaign was taken down by the developer, but the game is going to be finished anyway. John Smedley and his new studio aren’t giving up on this ambitious 2D RPG.
Hero's Song Kickstarter campaign was cancelled by the game’s developers. John Smedley and his Pixelmage Games studio explained that the project wasn’t going to reach its funding goals. However, this ambitious 2D multiplayer RPG from one of the fathers of Everquest franchise is going to come out anyway thanks to the financial support from its investors. This will also allow Pixelmage Games to remain independent from a publisher and retain their creative vision. The game should launch as promised in October 2016, first on PC and later on Mac.
Hero's Song is a 2D fantasy open-world RPG with innovative narrative. Instead of a detailed script, the developers are preparing a rich backstory, which will serve as a framework for randomly generated worlds. Players will be able to choose dominant gods, which is to determine the world’s history, population, races, geopolitical structure, and culture. Hack-and-slash-inspired gameplay will feature action-based combat and high level of difficulty. As for the multiplayer, the developers are planning to let players host their own unique servers, where others will play as in a classic MMO game.
Hero's Song will be available in two versions: Standard Edition priced at $19.99 and the Collector’s Edition worth $49.99. Check out the official website for more details.
