Has Insomniac Games Overpraised Spider-Man 2? Players Report Issues
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an excellent game, but it is not free of bugs. Especially big problems are reported by owners of physical copies of the game, who can not install Insomniac Games' title.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has garnered fantastic reviews, both from journalists, as well as the gaming community, appearing as a near-perfect sequel.
Unfortunately, not all owners of the game can experience the grandeur of New York. For as it turns out, some players - mainly those from Europe - who brought the boxed edition of the game are unable to install it (via Eurogamer).
The problem with physical editions
According to numerous reports that can be found on the web, installation of the game from the disc always stops at 36%. The matter is so problematic that replacing the media, switching the console to offline mode or restoring it to factory settings does not solve the problem.
"I have tried everything. Offline installation, rebuilding the database, clearing the cache, unplugging the power cord for a few seconds, downloading using a different user account, stopping the copying process at 36% before the error appeared and restarting the PS5 - and nothing helped."
This topic is interesting because recently Insomniac Games published statement about the owners of physical copies of the game not needing the optional update. The studio argued at the time that they would work even in offline mode, without the need to install the day one patch 1.001.002 - which, of course, was recommended. This issue did not go unnoticed among the recipients.
"This is really bad news for the developer, who said that you can play without downloading any patches."
However, paying attention to the error code itself - (PPSA 08338) - the fault may lie not with the game developer, but with those responsible for the faulty media manufacturing process - as noted by some of those commenters.
"This is an issue independent of the game's developer, as it is a problem related to the process of producing PAL copies of the game."
Spider-Man 2 is not bug-free
It is also worth mentioning the game's technical condition. After all, reviews of the game indicated that Insomniac Games' work is almost free of bugs. However, on the Internet more and more people draw attention on the various ills of the game - including those related to stability and numerous visual glitches.
Interestingly, some of the buyers of Spider-Man 2 - including critics - suggest that the game's problems were caused by the day one update, especially the animation and visual errors.
However, I recommend to approach the above assumptions with caution, bearing in mind that these are only subjective feelings of some players, not supported by any in-depth analysis so far.
It is also worth noting that it is virtually impossible for a game of the scale presented by Marvel's Spider-Man 2 to be fully free of bugs. Besides, the game by Insomniac Games is perfectly fully - at least for the vast majority of gamers.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 debuted on October 20, exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles.
