GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition - PS5 Storage Requirements

We've learned the storage requirements of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on PS5. We also know how the games in this set compare to the PlayStation 2 originals.

GTA: TRILOGY - THE DEFINITIVE EDITION DATA VOLUME:
  1. XSX: 49 GB
  2. PC: 45 GB
  3. PS5: 38.74 GB
  4. Nintendo Switch: 25.4 GB

Thanks to PlayStation Game Size we know the data volume of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition We also know how the collection compares to previous versions of these games. In the latter case, the PS2 editions installed on the PlayStation 4 were used for comparison (they run on the newer console thanks to emulation, but are identical to the PS2 editions in terms of content).

For comparison, we've also added the previously revealed Xbox Series X/S release sizes to the table below.

Game:

PS2 original

Definitive Edition on PS5

Definitive Edition on XSX

Grand Theft Auto III

1.57 GB

5.29 GB

8 GB

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

2.39 GB

10.77 GB

14 GB

Grand Thet Auto: San Andreas

3.23 GB

22.68 GB

27 GB

As you can see, GTA: San Andreas is the part the "grew" the most in the process of refreshing. It should also be added that the size on the PS5 does not include the day one patch. Entire Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is expected to take 38.74 GB on PS5, while the edition for Xbox Series X/S - 49 GB, on PC - 45 GB, and the version for Nintendo Switch - 25.4 GB.

The comparison shows that the PS5 refreshed versions of the games are clearly more space-efficient than the PC and Xbox Series X/S editions. We saw something similar recently with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. This is most likely due (at least in part) to the Kraken compression algorithm used on PlayStation 5.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Digital versions will be released on November 11. A boxed edition will debut on December 7, but it will only be available on consoles. In turn, iOS and Android versions will be released next year.
