Galactic Civilizations III with improved AI thanks to the latest update
Patch 1.4 enriched Galactic Civilizations III with new, enhanced AI. This makes in-game opponents more challenging, at the same time improving auto-management.
Galactic Civilizations III received a major AI update. Stardock Systems, the producer of this massive 4X space strategy, noticed that some players discovered (and shared online) tactics to easily beat otherwise challenging AI-controlled opponents. Patch 1.4 taught the game some tricks to counter player’s actions better, making it even more demanding. On the other hand, this also means that in-game governors, who can be tasked to manage the economy and progression of the player’s planets, are smarter too. The developers wrote:
“We started looking at how these experts were playing the game. Sure, stalking YouTube players may seem wrong but then again, people openly posting their strategies are fair game right? And with GalCiv 3 being a 64-bit multi-core game, we can toss a lot of computing power at the problem. So we did.”

Apart from AI improvements, the update brings about a bunch of game fixes, balance tweaks, diplomacy polish, UI enhancements, and more. Patch 1.4 full changelog was posted on the gam’s official forum. Galactic Civilizations III came out to PC on May 14, 2015, quickly earning positive reception. The title lets players build and develop their galactic civilization, face economical challenges and wage space wars.
