Frostpunk 2 Officially Announced; Watch the Trailer
11 bit studios has announced Frostpunk 2 and released the game's first trailer.
Developers from 11 bit studios have officially announced Frostpunk 2 - the sequel to the warmly received strategy/survival game in which we battle the deadly icy climate. The title will be released on PC as well as Steam, GOG.com, and Epic Games Store. Unfortunately, we didn't learn the release date, even an approximate one. You can watch the trailer below.
Action in Frostpunk 2 will be set 30 years after the events of the first installment. The Earth is still ruled by the harsh, cold climate and the resources necessary to survival are worth their weight in gold. The players take on the role of a leader of an expanding metropolis in need of new energy sources. Frostland's oil deposits provide a chance for survival, but its conquest is not welcomed by all groups in the multi-layered society.
The developers have announced that we'll have to solve conflicts arising from the different expectations of different factions. It's possible that in order to calm the moods, it may be necessary to rule with an iron fist and practice Machiavellian politics. The more efficiently we bring order, the better we will be prepared for the coming wave of frost.
Jakub Stolarski, one of the directors of Frostpunk 2 said the following about the new game by 11 bit studios:
“What we aim to deliver to players is an experience that goes vastly beyond that of the original Frostpunk. With a still-growing team of nearly 70 people, we have more manpower available to focus on all aspects of the game from the scale, the production value, and the quality of UX, but our ambition is to do more than a straight-up sequel. What players should expect is a wide universe of choices, the freedom to shape the society and the city however they see fit - and reap the consequences. Frostpunk 2 builds on the conflicts of its predecessor - survival vs human values, life vs the arctic frost. But most importantly, it adds a new layer that is present in many aspects of the game - be it politics, society or technological progress - the conflict between humans and their nature".
If you haven't played the first installment of Frostpunk and you want to see if the title is worth buying, you can test it for free on Steam from today until August 16 at 10:00 AM. If you like the title, you can buy it at a 70% discount.
