Forza Motorsport Devs Finally Take a Sharper Approach. Game's Roadmap Sparks Wave of Fan Enthusiasm

Although Forza Motorsport is updated month after month, fans were worried about the game's overall direction and the absence of many important features. Studio Turn 10 has successfully reassured players by releasing a comprehensive roadmap with free new features for the rest of the year.

As you probably know, Forza Motorsport isn't having a good run. The modest player base is shrinking (as seen in the statistics on SteamDB) and even tracks added every two months cannot stop this trend. Fortunately, yesterday the Turn 10 studio published a comprehensive action plan for the rest of this year, which could win the game greater favor and popularity.

Update 12 (September)

We will see the first significant changes in the upcoming update. Update 12 should be released between September 9 and 11 and will introduce:

  1. Challenge Hub, where we will complete specific goals in various game modes (career, multiplayer, rivals) in exchange for cars, credits, and other rewards;
  2. the option to unlock new cars in multiplayer, which were previously reserved for career mode - we will obtain them by completing a specified number of races selected from the recommended competitions called Featured Multiplayer;
  3. spectator mode in private multiplayer races, along with additional camera shots and other improvements in replays;
  4. more advanced weather configuration options will be available in single-player free-for-all and private multiplayer. Players will be able to set weather conditions at the beginning, middle, and end of the race, as well as determine the probability of their changes.

Of course, there will also be new cars and bug fixes, but we will have to wait a few more days for details on this matter.

Update 13 (October)

We already knew earlier that in October we would be getting another route, and now it has been confirmed that it will be Sunset Peninsula - a location last seen in Forza Motorsport 4, which many fans of the series have missed. This is a fictional variation on the theme of oval American tracks with a loop of roads in the middle (roval), which we will explore in five different varieties.

Additionally, starting this month, featured multiplayer events will begin to feature competitions chosen by players through voting.

Update 15 (December)

We were immediately assured that we would see the next track in another two months – this time we will receive Bathurst, the most famous track in Australia (also known as Mount Panorama), returning from FM7 in a refreshed form. It will be accompanied by events celebrating local cars and races.

Update 13/14/15

Numerous features are expected to be added to the game before the end of the year, but the specific release month hasn't been specified:

  1. drifting competitions and Formula Drift cars designed for them (added to the showroom); initially, this mode will be available in singleplayer casual mode and private multiplayer, but over time drifting meets are expected to appear as recommended multiplayer competitions;
  2. selected Career Mode events from previous updates will be added to the game permanently, along with the cars that could be unlocked in them;
  3. the Forza Race Regulations (FRR) penalty system is undergoing further improvements, with changes set to become more frequent and significant as the developer increases internal resources to support the tool;
  4. a system that automatically turns cars into ghosts in multiplayer mode, activated e.g. during accidents or when a mean player fails to brake before a turn, trying to ram rivals;
  5. additional settings of proximity radar;
  6. Creative Hub, modeled on Forza Horizon 5, is a central hub enabling easier browsing of player creations: car paintings, tuning settings, race replays, and photos;
  7. improvements to the Forza Horizon 5-style paint editor.

Update 16 and more (2025 year)

So far, only a very general plan for next year has been announced – more cars, tracks, and gameplay features. In other words, the devs ensured that the development of the game will continue. The only specific attraction announced is the permanent addition of new career mode competitions focused on racing cars.

Forza Insiders

Even though the developer didn't address all the issues troubling the community in the entry discussed above – there was no mention of further improving the AI of computer opponents or adding player statistics – the long and exceptionally transparent article caused a wave of enthusiasm among players.

The positive atmosphere is additionally enhanced by the announcement from the previous day. On Wednesday, Turn 10 studio launched the Forza Insiders program, which aims to give select fans a greater say in the development of Forza Motorsport. After signing the confidentiality agreement, you will have the opportunity to test upcoming features in the game and share your feedback directly with the development team in a dedicated, private section of the game's discussion forum. You will find a registration form on the forza.net website.
