Not long ago, fans of Sid Meier’s Civilization celebrated the removal of the 2K launcher from the "sixth" installment and its absence in the upcoming seventh part. However, the joy didn't last long, and the publisher quickly brought the players back down to earth, serving an even greater evil for many of them. In Civilization VII, the controversial and disliked Denuvo security will be implemented.

This information can be found on the game's card on Steam. There is also an activation limit shown, which we can carry out within 24 hours, and it is set at 5. This means that during a day we can run the game on a maximum of 5 different computers. Of course, few people are likely to exceed it, but...

...as you can easily guess, players reacted to this information with a rather fierce outrage. Many of them said they would cancel their pre-orders and wait to buy the game until the DRM protection is removed. Some people are also concerned about game's efficiency and the safety of their equipment.

We got rid of the 2K launcher...but at what cost?!? Curse you, Monkey Paw.

This will actually hurt sales, and for me, I'm on older hardware so now I have to worry about this Denuvo garbage slowing down the game more and destroying my drives.

Well I bought the big bundle... and I just returned the big bundle.

Furthermore, while the new Civilization won't require us to install the publisher's launcher, creating a 2K account will be necessary if we wish to play online (unfortunately, the game won't offer the familiar hot seats mode). This is a less annoying requirement, nonetheless, it's worth keeping this fact in mind. Players planning to play only offline don't have to worry about this.
