Final Fantasy XVI Devs Confident, Don't Anticipate Issues For Release
The developers of Final Fantasy XVI are confident of a successful release. They have no plans to release a so-called day one patch or any DLCs (at least for now).
Modern games, as a rule, receive their first updates on the day of their debut - these are mainly aimed at fixing bugs that the developers have managed to deal with since the announcement of the game going gold and sending the master disc to the pressing plant. The developers of the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI are quite confident, however, as in an interview with Game Informer they announced that they have no plans to release a so-called day one patch.
FF XVI without a release update
Therefore, it can be assumed (with a dose of caution) that any possible bugs will not bother players too much when the game launches.
The developers also argue the decision not to release a day one patch with the good of the fans themselves, who have poor internet and through the release update would have to wait longer to enjoy Final Fantasy XVI. Hiroshi Takai, director of the game, points out, however, that the title is being tested every day, and the plans can always change.
No plans for DLCs
Final Fantasy XVI will not receive any DLCs - or at least the developers have no such plans at this points. This is good news for those who do not like to pay extra for additional content for expensive AAA games.
"This is a game for a one-time playthrough. We ask players to pay the full price for the experience, [...] and we want their satisfaction to be equal to what they paid for. [...] While we always consider DLCs and other things through which you can learn more about the game, we first want to find out if players will want to see more, and we prefer to make that decision then," said Naoki Yoshida, producer of FF XVI, for Game Informer.
The demo is coming
During a recent event held for the press developers of Final Fantasy XVI reminded that players will be able to play a demo of the game before its release. It will last a few hours and will focus on the youth of the main character, Clive. We do not know when exactly it will be available (in March the developers claimed it would be two weeks before the debut), but we might find out during the upcoming PlayStation Showcase.
Final Fantasy XVI will debut on June 22 on the PS5 console. The game is expected to hit PCs at a later date.
