With the constant announcements of giveaways on Epic Games Store, it's easy to forget that the platform is just one of Epic Games' ventures. Tim Sweeney's company is also constantly developing the extremely popular Unreal Engine. We were able to see a sample of the capabilities of the fifth edition of this technology just last year, but apparently it was only a foretaste of what next-gen UE will bring with it. Epic Games unveiled MetaHuman Creator, a cloud-based tool that enables us to create and edit incredibly realistic digital actors. A sample of the software's capabilities was demonstrated in two videos published on YouTube.

The realism of MetaHuman is not limited to the extremely detailed appearance of the face. The editor will enable us to create a whole character model, including hair and clothing, ready for animation. Most importantly, everything will be very simple: the entire process of creating a virtual actor will take less than an hour instead of days or even weeks. In addition, once the project is complete, developers will be able to easily export the character to a game or transfer its data (for example, regarding animation or skeleton) to another project.

MetaHuman Creator is still at a fairly early stage of development. For now, developers can only test two models prepared by Epic Games for use in titles based on Unreal Engine version 4.26.1. An early version of the tool should be ready for testing in the coming months.
