We know who will direct the film with Tom Cruise in the lead role announced some time ago, the first live-action film shot in space. Doug Liman has been appointed to this role, who worked on Edge of Tomorrow, among others.
- Doug Liman is expected to direct the film starring Tom Cruise, announced earlier this month, whose scenes are to be shot in space.
- The creator of such hits as Edge of Tomorrow or Bourne's Identity will also write the script and produce the movie.
Work on creating the first ever live-action film, whose scenes will be shot in space, is slowly picking up pace. We got to know the name of the movie's director. It will be Doug Liman, who has such blockbusters as Bourne's Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Edge of Tomorrow or American Made. He also writes the script for the upcoming "space" movie and will be its producer (via The Hollywood Reporter).
We would like to remind that the star and the other producer of the upcoming movie will be Tom Cruise. The actor has already had the opportunity to work with Liman - in Edge of tomorrow or American Made. He will also appear in one of director's next projects - Luna Park.
We also know that the movie will be made in cooperation with Elon Musk's Space X and NASA. The administrator of the latter, Jim Bridenstine, revealed on Twitter that he agreed to get involved in the project, as he hopes it will inspire new generations of scientists and engineers.
So far, the secret is what Doug Liman's space movie with Tom Cruise will actully be about. The only solid fact is that at least part of his action will take place on board International Space Station.
Those interested in the project, and excited about the fact that we are getting more and more information about it, need to calm down, though - it will probably take some time before we can see the film in the cinemas. No label has taken it under their wing yet, and besides, both Liman and Cruise are currently busy with other projects. The director focuses on post-production of Chaos Walking with Mads Mikkelsen, Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in the lead roles, and the actor has to finish filming of seventh and eighth parts of Mission: Impossible, interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
