Delta Force mobile has a release date, but not all fans are happy
Delta Force has announced a release date for a mobile version, though this comes before any news about a console version, and not all fans are happy about that.

Today, Delta Force announced a release date for the mobile version of the recently popular FPS. Delta Force launched on Steam at the end of 2024, but also recently added a free campaign mode focused on the story of Black Hawk Down. That campaign was not too well received by fans, but the game continues to have a steady number of players on Steam, according to SteamDB. The mobile version of Delta Force is set to arrive later this year on April 21st.
Delta Force mobile gets a release date, but not all fans are happy
The Delta Force mobile release date was announced via a social media post. According to the post, fans are able to “pre-register now to unlock exclusive gear you don’t want to miss.” The post shows off several kinds of rewards, including what looks like a few gun skins, some vehicle skins, and charms. Overall, nothing seems too exciting.
This announcement notably comes before the game has launched on console or even announced a release date for those platforms. This is no more apparent than in the responses to the mobile announcement on social media. The top reply simply reads: “why? Focus on console and PC.” Many of the other replies feel similarly, with another reply reading: “No one cares about mobile…” and another user writing “Console still waiting…” Some fans feel that this is a mistake, that this mobile version will be a flop, and the developers should focus on consoles instead. As an outsider, I’m not so confident.
It's no surprise that lately console sales have been in decline, while mobile continues to be a dominant force in the video game industry. Even if mobile doesn’t end up working out for the Delta Force developers, it still makes sense for them to chase that larger audience. Nearly every major free-to-play shooter these days, at least the ones that have been around long enough to develop a port, have introduced a mobile version. Call of Duty, Fortnite, PUBG, Rainbow Six, and more. If it wasn’t working for those other games, they would have stopped doing it a long time ago.
For now, we will have to wait and see how this mobile version is received by fans. Currently, Delta Force is sitting at mixed overall reviews on Steam, with only 65% of reviews being positive. But that hasn’t stopped the game from reaching nearly 100 thousand concurrent players every day this week. Delta Force may have staying power, but it will be interesting to see how that transfers to new platforms.
