DA Veilguard's devs shared some stats. No one romanced grandpa Emmrich, and First Warden was regularly slapped in face
BioWare has shared another dose of statistics from the new Dragon Age. Some once again come as a surprise to fans.
WARNING: THE TEXT CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD
A few days ago marked a month since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, which provides a perfect opportunity to summarize the most important decisions of the players. BioWare has already shared the first statistics, largely related to the creation of the main character - now it's time for the storyline.
Despite appearances, the choices of the general public differ from those made by the most engaged fan community. Part of it really surprised Internet users, who can't believe such a turn of events.
The fandom didn't see that coming
The latest statistics have been published on the game's official X account and concern important narrative choices and the completion of companion quests. Contrary to appearances, not all results coincide with common discussions in the community, an example of which is the issue of romances.
According to BioWare, Rook's most frequent sights are Neve, Lucanis, and Taash, which contradicts the previously mentioned fan poll - the Fortune Hunters were in last place, while Emmrich and Davrin reigned supreme. Meanwhile, both the Grey Warden and the necromancer landed at the very bottom of the ladder, much to the crowd's surprise.
The romance stats show, once again, that the online DA/BioWare fandom doesn’t account for the majority of players. Going by online discussion, you’d think Emmrich or Davrin would be the top two romances and Taash would be last, yet Taash is 3rd and Davrin & Emmrich are bottom two.
Speaking of Emmrich I’m judging those who made him a Lich.
Davrin and Emmrich being the two least popular romances… What a tragedy that so many people missed out on them. But nothing is as surprising to me as 50% of players not even bothering to pet Assan.
The issue of concluding Solas' storyline was met with similar surprise. It turns out that 72% of players chose his redemption, which required meeting several conditions. One of the players demonstrated the contrasting approaches using a friend from beyond the community as an example.
My brother, who never played a Dragon Age game before, picked the redeem ending because he thought it made the most sense, narratively. When I explained some of what happens in DAI and how betrayed you feel, he said that the trickster ending made more sense in that context.
"Too many of you are monsters for not doing these"
Of course, not only big choices matter. BioWare made sure to include smaller (but equally important!) statistics, such as news on how many players petted Assan or played rock, paper, scissors with the skeleton Manfred. Contrary to appearances, the numbers aren't as promising as you might expect.
It turns out that only half of the player population showed any affection to the griffin, and Emmrich's pet was ignored by 69% of people. The issue here may lie in the skeleton's specific location, which is generally far from the other regions Rook visits in the Lighthouse.
Manfred would be higher if he was not tucked away, stick him next to the workshop and it would be like 80%.
Fortunately, not all decisions are completely different from the fandom approach. A universal experience for most, including those online, is at least hitting the First Warden in the face, which was done by 64% of players. On the other hand, the decision to save Minratus or Treviso represents an almost perfect division, proving that both cities have their supporters.
The Veilguard recently received its fourth update, introducing Hawke's iconic armor from the second installment of the game. On this occasion, BioWare has released a free character creator, allowing you to test its capabilities before deciding to buy the game.
