Cyberpunk 2077 Got Another Secret. Players Already Found Mysterious Phone Number as Theories Pop Up
The latest update to Cyberpunk 2077 contains a mysterious secret. Players are already checking it out and trying to find out what the developers really hid under the phone character.
Night City hides many mysteries and easter eggs. The creators included them in the game from the very beginning, and subsequent updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion only increased the number of such deets.
So is the case with the latest patch 2.1.1., which introduced a new interactive item to the game, leaving players wondering what its true purpose is.
Mysterious phone in Cyberpunk 2077
The latest find to be found in the game turned out to be another phone. Why another one? Because the first item of this type was introduced in the game with Phantom Liberty and we can find it by completing the mission Lucretia My Reflection (which in itself is a reference to the song by Sisters of Mercy of the same title, as in case of many quests in the game), and it plays music from The Witcher and Edge Runners after selecting the right numbers.
The newest phone is located in the Oil Fields refinery in the wastelands in the north of Night City and is much more enigmatic, as noticed by various Reddit users, who together try to solve the mystery of the device. Players have so far tested the found number 43774946, and one of them showed what happens when we use the phone as Johnny as well as V.
The author of the thread shows that in both cases, the protagonist will experience a reboot of his system, which does not actually affect gameplay in any way. It's worth noting that the cutscene for Silverhand (in the case of giving Johnny's body back at the end of the game) lasts much longer than the one for V.
Is the cat key?
This reboot is not as spectacular as with the music from the first phone. However, it turns out that we should pay attention to something completely different and as the players point out, look at the cat appearing next to us.
In case of entering the first number, during reboot, it will meow. However, if we enter the second number found by the players - 2742684, it will fall asleep next to us, and we will also experience a reboot.
For now, it is unknown whether the discovery is limited solely to various cat behaviors. Players suspect that this is a much deeper secret and the best is yet to come. This time, finding the numbers is much harder than with the first phone, as they are not written on notes around the device.
Is that all? It's hard to say, maybe the developers really hid something from the players that will allow them to fall into an interesting rabbit... or cat hole and discover another secret of Night City?
