Bloodborne Co-creators Lose Another Producer

Masami Yamamoto - the producer who worked on Bloodborne and Soul Sacrifice, among other titles - has left Sony Japan Studio's development team. This is yet another experienced staff member who recently parted ways with the Japanese company.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Another developer, Masami Yamamoto, has left the Sony Japan Studio team;
  2. Yamamoto worked for Sony Group for over 25 years and was the producer of Bloodborne, Tokyo Jungle and Soul Sacrifice, among other titles.

It seems that the "reorganization" of Sony Japan is in full swing. Masami Yamamoto, the producer of Bloodborne, Tokyo Jungle and Soul Sacrifice, has left the team. This is another person, after Masaaki Yamagiwa and Ryo Sogabe, who left the Japanese company.

Yamamoto left Sony Japan Studio on February 28, but announced it only now. Everything indicates that the parting took place in a peaceful atmosphere. The developer thanked the company for 25 years of cooperation and noted that now he will be able to create games dedicated to any platform.

"I'm a little late, but I'm pleased to announce that I resigned from SIE Japan Studio as of February 28. I have worked for Sony Group for 25 years, including my previous job at SME, and have been very happy working as a first-party game developer. I would like to thank everyone for their support. Oh, and from now on I can make games for every platform.... It's such a weird feeling!, reads the tweet.

It's worth noting that according to earlier reports, the main reason for dismissals (and consequently departures) from Sony Japan Studio is the lack of faith in the games created by the Japanese team by SIE's current president Jim Ryan. The titles are not generating enough profits.

It is unknown what Yamamoto will do next. Some speculate that he may join a company founded by other former SIE employees - Bokeh Game Studio.
