In Full Version of Baldur's Gate 3 You'll Hardly Recognize Popular Early Access Companion
Baldur's Gate 3's lead writer Adam Smith has revealed what changes were experienced by one of the characters in the full version of the game, compared to its early access counterpart.
At the recent, several-hour-long Panel from Hell, Larian Studios shared a wealth of information about Baldur's Gate 3. Because of such a flood of news, some may have missed a rather important (provided they played in early access) mention of one of the game's more popular characters.
It turns out that Wyll - for he is the character in question - at the time of the release of the full version of Baldur's Gate 3 will no longer be the same Wyll we met in Early Access. This is due to change of actor who took part in the voice recordings and motion capture sessions.
The previous artist (Lanre Malaolu) was replaced in this role by Theo Solomon, who is no stranger to popular franchises. The actor took part, among others, as the narrator of the 12-hour audiobook Warhammer 40,000: Leviathan.
Interestingly, the voice (because the appearance will most likely remain the same) is not the only change that fans of Baldur's Gate 3 will experience in the case of Wyll.
The game's head writer, Adam Smith, revealed that the character's entire story has been rebuilt almost from scratch.
"Almost every line of dialogue was rewritten from scratch. We changed his past a lot; we realized that Wyll has this incredibly fascinating story, but we weren't telling it as well as we could. So we did it again, because that's what we do," he explained during Panel from Hell.
