Baldur's Gate 3 Will Offer 17,000 Ending Variations; Yes, That Many Zeroes
Developers from Larian Studios have commented on the scale of Baldur's Gate 3. It turns out that we may not have enough lives to get to know all of the variations of endings they have prepared.
If you thought that the recently revealed figure of 174 hours of cinematics featured in Baldur's Gate 3 (eight seasons of Game of Thrones equal to barely half of that) is the peak of Larian Studios' abilities, then take a look at the information on the number of variations of endings they have prepared for the upcoming RPG.
- According to a well-known youtuber Fextralife, who has already had the pleasure of playing the full version of Baldur's Gate 3, the developers have prepared a total of... 17,000 (!) variations of endings..
"I spent some time talking to Chrystal [Ding], who is one of the writers of the project, working mainly on the game's ending. She was working on it for six months. Only on the ending of the main story, which is incredible. I asked her: 'How many variants of the ending are there?' She told me '17,000,'" Fextralife explains in his video.
Interestingly, the figure is apparently not just a marketing gimmick, as it was confirmed on Twitter by publishing director Michael Douse.
It should be noted, however, that we are talking about "variations" here, that is, changes to the ending that (probably to a small extent) depend on the decisions we make during the game.
Unfortunately, the developers have not revealed how many actual endings - in the full sense of the word - we will be able to unlock in Baldur's Gate 3. However, given how powerful the game promises to be, we can assume with a high degree of probability that there will also be quite a few of them.
Full version Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on August 3 on PC. PlayStation 5 console owners will have to wait until September 6 for their release..
