Last update: 19 January 2023
On this page of our game guide we explain what are the most important features of the 2020 remaster, that is, Kingdom of Amalur Re-Reckoning. You can also find out more about the available editions of the remaster and supported hardware platforms.
Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning is a remaster of the Kingdoms of Amalur video game that was originally released in 2012. The Kaiko Games studio has developed the remaster (in the past this studio has also prepared a remaster of Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered). The publisher of the game is THQ Nordic, which in 2018 took over the rights of the Kingdoms of Amalur brand.
The remaster was released on September 8, 2020 for personal computers, as well as for PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
The Re-Reckoning version contains all available DLCs for the game. This includes major expansion sets like The Legend of Dead Kel and Teeth of Naros. They were integrated into main campaign of the game.
The remaster is still a single player game. The game has no multiplayer content. Kingdoms of Amalur was developed for players who prefer single-player gameplay.
The remaster runs at 60 frames per second and works in 4K resolution. Higher quality 4K textures were also prepared for the refreshed version. In case of the console versions, the remaster offers even better graphics if you own a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.
Some minor gameplay improvements were implemented in the remaster. These include an updated loot generation system. This way you may still find some useful items in chests even in the further stages of the story campaign.
Suggested remaster prices are:
- EUR39.99 for Standard Edition
- EUR59.99 for the Fate Edition - it includes the official soundtrack from the game and provides access to a brand new expansion called Fatesworn that will be released in 2021. It should offer around five hours of gameplay.
- Owners of Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning on PC can also purchase the remaster for a bit cheaper price. The special offer is -50% of the standard price and people who have the original version of the game in their Steam library may take advantage of this offer. The offer will only be available until November 2020.
